Ed Konieczny has been building
custom furniture for most of his life.
Starting in his father’s basement
workshop, he built his first desk at age 11. After a frustrating
attempt at college, he moved to Montana where he trained with a
local craftsman, learning the basics of joinery, wood knowledge, and
finishing. Soon after returning to New England in 1975 he set up his
present shop in the town of Cummington. Ed admits to having a Shaker
influence in his work. That does not limit the scope of his designs,
and he has been commissioned on occasion to make very contemporary
pieces. Commissioned pieces reflect the client’s needs and vision,
brought to life with Ed’s creativity, knowledge, and skills. He
crafts each piece personally, from the selection of wood to the
application of the final finish.
Attention to detail is a hallmark of
Ed’s work. |
